Overcoming Boredom
May 17th 2010 16:39
Well, I tried to have this posted the day after my last one but instead I did some experiments to see what actually helped stave off boredom. To my dismay, I didn't find anything worthwhile. Once you become too bored to continue with your work, there's only one real solution and it's an easy one.
Take a break.
By this I mean, get up, away from your computer and simply do something else for a while. Depending on your daily goals, you can take a 1-4 hour break and still be able to make up for that lost time later in the day. That's the joy of working at home. If your goal is $60/day which isn't hard to do at all, you may get very bored at the $30 mark. This is break time. You're halfway done, you've earned a break. Go get some bills paid, some shopping done, some laundry finished, but the important thing is to stay away from a keyboard.
I tried taking a break and sitting here playing games and messing around online and my motivation to write stayed gone. I took the kids to the park for a while, and when I came home, I was refreshed and ready to work again. Get outside if you can, the sun helps improve your mood quite a bit, even if you are just walking the dog.
