The Contact List
September 23rd 2010 20:59
For some reason this didn't post last time and I'm honestly too lazy to type out the 500 words again so I'll sum it up.
Set up a specific work e-mail (if you haven't already) and for every private client you work for, ask them to add you to their contact list and do the same for them. I use Gmail because I like the color coded setup and the ability to put status messages like "Available for Work", etc..
I keep a window with this Gmail open (minimized) all day long to guarantee that if a previous client logs on, they'll see that I'm there and available for another job.
Additional Items:
Make sure to ask them to pass your e-mail along to friends who need writers.
Don't use your personal e-mail unless it's too late and your clients are there.
Change your status message as applicable. If you're busy, change it to busy.
I apologize that my last post vanished but this does sum it up decently.
Keep your contacts close and don't hesitate to pop into chat and ask if they need anything once in a while.
